Just breath ...

When does breath become 'Breathwork'?

Whatever the technique, breath becomes 'breathwork' when we put deliberate attention onto the breath, and breathe in a deliberate way - paying attention. We all breathe all the time automatically, but breathwork is about taking conscious focus onto the breath, observing our breath in the moment and changing the way that we breathe for the duration of a breathwork practice.

Clare integrates breathwork into her singing and voice work practices, but is also a facilitator and advocate for Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) and a  qualified Breathwork Teacher. As a Breathwork Facilitator Clare delivers breathwork sessions including CCB sessions on an individual or group basis, both online and in person.

CCB is a specific technique where the breather inhales with power, pulling the breath in, and exhales with ease, letting the breath go, without a pause in between – so the inhale and exhale are 'connected'. Having trained with Breathing Space, the most powerful technique Clare shares is this open mouthed technique, although Clare always offers a nose breathing option where it's appropriate, and has a menu of breathworks to suit all needs.

CCB offers a key to have a deep impact on our being, to connect to ourselves deeply, make changes in our energy, to relax and de-stress, to improve our health and wellbeing, to expand our consciousness, to increase our focus, and create shifts in our physiology that can lead to a corresponding shift in consciousness. The effects of breathwork are as varied as the individuals taking part, the techniques used, and the intention behind - the common thread is that focused and deliberate use of our breath is the vehicle and the key to unlock the power of breath and to enable people to have an experience. Do not underestimate the power of breath - it has been life changing for Clare and others and holds untold potential to impact our lives.

Conscious Connected Breathwork

What's special about the consicous connected breathwork (CCB) technique?

Conscious Connected Breathwork offers a key to have an important impact on our being, to connect to ourselves deeply, make changes in our energy, to relax and de-stress, to improve our health and wellbeing, to expand our consciousness, to increase our focus, and create shifts in our physiology that can lead to a corresponding shift in consciousness.

The effects of breathwork are as varied as the individuals taking part, the techniques used, and the intention behind - the common thread is that focused and deliberate use of our breath is the vehicle and the key to unlock the power of breath and to enable people to have an experience.

The Conscious Connected Breathwork technique taps into the internal healing mechanism of our bodies - our internal health wisdom. Through regulating our breathing, we are affecting the oxygen and carbon-dioxide in our blood, we alter our blood chemistry, and unlock potential for our bodies to heal - experiences can impact on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Each breathwork experience is different, usually intensely relaxing and energising. Sometimes people receive great clarity of thought and insight, sometimes people will experience strong emotions and trauma release, sometimes people will have a conscious or spiritual experience. Do no underestimate the power of breath - it has been life changing for Clare and others and holds untold potential to impact our lives.

What to expect

How to do the consicous connected breathwork (CCB) technique

Clare creates and holds wonderful spaces for breathers to experience Conscious Connected Breathwork. Each participant is empowered to breath under their own sovereignty in a supported and non-judgemental space. Clare draws participants into that space, grounding, then guiding participants in a practice with clarity and compassion and focused support. Whether playful or deeply serious, or both, participants are held, and given an opportunity to explore and have an experience with safety.

Conscious Connected Breathwork is a powerful breath technique, usually practiced lying down or seated, with 4 simple stages:

1 Open mouth, as if you were biting into an apple

2 Full body breaths through the mouth, expanding the abdomen, the lower chest and the upper chest

3 Connected at the top and bottom of the breath (no pause), like the continual waves of the ocean.

4 An active inhale and passive exhale, drawing in that which we need and letting go of that which doesn’t serve us.

Clare usually combines CCB with a soundtrack of specially selected music, which helps breathers to pace the breathwork. She will select music that starts slowly, increases in intensity and tempo and then slows down, finally coming to stillness. This is done to support your breathing journey, but if you prefer to breathe in silence this is also possible. Clare also likes to create themes for breathworks that are sympathetic to the seasons and rhythms of the Earth - so please discuss what you would like from your breathwork experience.

Clare will guide you in the practice, holding and transmitting a conscious intention for your breathwork. She wants to inspire participants with a desire to embrace the power of their breath and empower people to get the most out of any work undertaken, offering support and reassurance to all her clients.

Clare's journey with breath

A personal way in ...

Breath is the first thing we do when we come into the world, and the last thing we do when we leave.

We may neglect the breath, but we don't stop breathing until we die.

It is the foundation of everything we do - and is so simple. It's particularly wonderful because everyone can breathe, as long as we are alive we have the breath. Yet so many people are unaware of the power and potential of our breath to support the body, to increase our vitality, to help us deal with emotional stress and challenges, to open us up to greater sense of self and unlock our potential and to support our growth as human beings. It's so exciting because it is accessible to everyone.

Clare is part of the Breathing Space community of breathwork practitioners, having undertaken their Foundation, Facilitator, Mentor, Leadership and Teacher Training. The experience has been life changing, offering a depth of breath awareness, exploration and regular practice that has really been transformational on a personal level. Clare is an inspired breathwork facilitatior and teacher, with a mission to share the power of breath widely.

If you would like to train in breathwork with Clare - please get in touch. Currently open to expressions of interest in apprenticeships, as part of the wonderful organisation and community of Breathing Space.
